Sexual Assault Awareness - Mock Campaign

My partner and I were prompted to create a SA awareness campaign that contained three tactics. By branding ourselves as the perpetrators, our ads have a shock value quality that makes the viewer evaluate their own biases. The ads contain toxic language that many are used to hearing, but not used to seeing.

For our guerrilla campaign, pint glasses and their corresponding coasters are paired strategically to make a statement regarding rape culture. The pint glasses exhibit toxic language, and only when the customer goes to take a drink will they see the subsequent twist on the coasters. The QR codes lead to our Instagram.

Take care of your friends. Take care of them when they’re sober, drunk, or high. This means going home, sticking together, and intervening when people try to take advantage of them. Your friends can only give consent if they are sober.

People often believe that being in a relationship means consent no longer applies. In reality, consent and open communication are important with every sexual encounter, regardless of relationship status. #ConsentAlways

If you’ve ever heard someone ask what a person was wearing in regards to sexual assault, you know how degrading it can feel. Whether it’s about your own experience or not, this is a form of victim-blaming. The only thing that determines consensual sex is consent. Period.
